Abstract

Sustainable development and manufacturing are a key area of emphasis across the globe in the present day. Accordingly, there is considerable attention to sustainability reporting. The textile industry has been recognized as a consumer of natural and chemical materials, and also as a significant source of various pollutants. However, there is a lack of indicators to measure sustainability performance in this industry. This paper proposes a set of Sustainable Performance Indicators (SPIs) for evaluating the sustainable environmental practices of textile firms. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is applied to prioritize the SPIs. It is anticipated that the proposed SPIs will enables the textile industry to achieve greater performance in sustainable manufacturing and waste management.
