Abstract

Now a days, concern over waste water treatment and reuse is increasing due the stringent rules and regulations posed by the government to avoid further environmental impacts and to achieve sustainable development. Textile industries are considered to be the most water consuming units. The waste water released from various operations during manufacturing process is the most polluted one and it contains non biodegradable organic compounds, hence it requires proper treatment prior to disposal. This paper reviews the various combined treatment processes available which are found to be very effective and promising technologies in treating the waste water and protecting the environment. From the literature review it is concluded that more work needs to be done to optimize the factors in order to maximize the efficiency. The literature review revealed that combined treatment methods are more effective and economical compared to a single method.
