Learning beyond Four Walls of Class Room: SWAYAM
Abstract
The Indian education system is the world’s third largest higher education system, having a rich mix of premier government and private institutes with a network of 38000 colleges and 800 universities. The Govt of India has taken an initiatives called SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) which objectives are to achieves three cardinal principles of Education policy i.e. access, equity and quality. The courses available under SWAYAM offers credit transfer as well as certificate for the courses. This paper is focus on SWAYAM, its adoption, source of content, course subscribers, how SWAYAM is different from another MOOCs platforms, etc. This paper would provide learner’s experience of the SWAYAM during last two years.
