A Study on the Influence of Welfare Measures on Employee Performance in Automobile Firms in Chennai
Abstract
Welfare of employees as a concept is an important aspect which helps to pose a positive picture about an organisation. As a term it includes the various kinds of benefits, facilities and services provided by an employer to the employees to help enjoy a better and more meaningful life. The objective of this study is to know whether there is influence of welfare measure on employee commitment and to identify whether there is influence of employee commitment on employee performance in automobile firms in Chennai. The study has shown that whether it is statutory, non-statutory of social security measures there is significant difference in mean ranks of aspects of welfare measures as perceived by the employees of automobile firms in Chennai. Apart from this it is seen when it comes to affective commitment it can be seen that there is a high level of relationship between all the three types of employee welfare measures as compared to relationship between welfare measures and continuous commitment and normative commitment.
